Master of Science in Sport Management

If you are passionate about sports, currently work in the sport industry, or want to pursue an exciting career in a dynamic field, the Jacksonville University Master of Science in Sport Management has been developed with you in mind. The program encompasses both the business and physical performance aspects of organized athletics to prepare you for a leadership role in a private, public, collegiate or professional sports career or sports-related field.

With a Master of Science in Sport Management, you can anticipate a career with sports teams or supporting industries, including:

  • Public relations
  • Journalism and broadcasting
  • Marketing and advertising
  • Facilities and event development
  • Economics and finance
  • Interscholastic, recreational, collegiate and professional program sports

JU graduates currently work in the NFL, NBA, MLB and the PGA along with other collegiate, professional and non-profit sports organizations.

Designed for candidates with an undergraduate degree in any major, the MSSM program will provide you with the knowledge you need to advance through the management ranks of a sports team or firm that supports sports organizations. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach that integrates expertise from faculty at the Davis College of Business with health management specialties at the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences.

Offered completely online, the 12-course, 36-credit MSSM degree program is designed to be completed over a 12-month period. The program’s five core courses include:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Finance/statistics
  • Marketing/management
  • Leadership

Specific sports-industry course work focuses on sports marketing through sponsorship and social media, facilities management and data analytics in decision-making. Students will also be required to participate in a real-world sports management project as part of the program.

The School of Orthodontics Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodontics is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

All programs except the Master of Science in Kinesiological Sciences are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The MS Kinesiological Sciences program is pending approval by SACSCOC.
