Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Students in the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree program at JU’s highly regarded Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences receive instruction from an experienced and engaged faculty who prepare them for careers as licensed counselors. In addition to a clinical track, the two-year, full-time program offers an opportunity for specialization in marriage, couples and family therapy.

Please plan to attend one of the Upcoming Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Information Sessions. They are held at the following times at the Jacksonville University Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences Main Building (BRCHS).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 1, 2019 for a fall-term cohort that begins in August 2019.


Scholarships or financial aid are available to qualifying students.

About the Program

The MS-CMHC program is a 60-credit-hour, practitioner-oriented program that is based on best practice criteria. The program:

  • Meets the educational requirements for State of Florida licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
  • Offers the possibility of licensure in marriage, couples and family therapy.
  • Includes coaching theories, techniques and practices, which are embedded in the curriculum, offering students the potential for certification as a Board Certified Coach through the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) upon completion of clinical supervision and clinical practice hours.
  • Is seeking certification from the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

The School of Orthodontics Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodontics is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

All programs except the Master of Science in Kinesiological Sciences are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The MS Kinesiological Sciences program is pending approval by SACSCOC.
