Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

JU’s Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is an innovative approach to shaping the future orthodontic education. As a student in the program, you will receive instruction from an exceptional faculty of experienced, visionary professionals at the JU School of Orthodontics. After successfully completing a clinically intensive program of study, you will receive a Certificate in Orthodontics. In addition, you will have multiple dual-degree opportunities.

Students in the 24-month Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics program are introduced to a variety of treatment philosophies, with an emphasis on preadjusted edgewise appliances and related techniques. Supervising clinical faculty teach diagnostics and mechanotherapeutics in daily diagnosis and treatment planning seminars. In addition, numerous contemporary techniques are demonstrated and utilized in the school’s state-of-the-art orthodontic clinical facility.

Dual-degree opportunities include:

  • A three-year program offered in conjunction with the School of Education, resulting in both a Certificate and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. This opportunity is offered to one student per year.
  • A jointly sponsored program with the Davis College of Business in which students enrolled in the two-year orthodontic certificate program can also earn a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. This opportunity is offered to multiple students per year.

The School of Orthodontics Advanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodontics is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

All programs except the Master of Science in Kinesiological Sciences are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The MS Kinesiological Sciences program is pending approval by SACSCOC.
